Classic: Phantasm [aka Boy/Girl] (Tones Energy) 0

1992

Luckely stumbled on this one. I do have a bootleg of this track on vinyl, but without any track names. Never knew the name, which makes searching hard. But here we are! This track was played often in a club named La DS (Like the famous Citroën car) in The Hague. This club was one of the first clubs in The Hague which played house till sun rise. Allthough we prefered the parties, so now and then we went to this home-based club. When house became mainstream the decay of La DS started. With more clubs to choose from the crowd left.

It must be said that the long term resident DJ Ramon deserves special credits. Allthough he needed to shift a couple of times a night to santisfy the ‘club’ concept, his record choice in the none-club phases were outstanding. I will never forget his set at the French Ambassy. But at that party he wasn’t the only one who let the people crawl up the walls! Maybe more about that later.

Also need to mention Edje (whooo!). Extremely gay, but always cheering up the crowd. I think his offical function was collecting the empty glasses, but most of the time he was cruising the dance floor.

PS: Tip me if you can find better looking pictures of Ramon. There must be some out there 😉

Here a wikipedia page about La DS (Dutch only)
